Directory inclusion

Companies may be added from regulatory datasets, government lending program data, official company sources, or editorial research. Inclusion is not an endorsement and does not mean every product offered by the company has been reviewed.

Claiming a listing

Company representatives can request a claim. Automated verification requires control of the official website domain by publishing a unique token at a specified well-known URL. Requests that cannot be verified through the official website are routed for manual handling.

Automatic suppression

After successful domain verification, an eligible suppression request changes the company profile to suppressed, removes it from public directory and comparison queries, clears featured and sponsored flags, and disables affiliate links associated with that company. The action is retained in an audit log.

Independent coverage

Suppression from the commercial directory does not automatically erase independent editorial articles, regulatory records, public-interest reporting, or historical references. Requests involving those materials are reviewed separately.

Restoration

A verified representative can request restoration through the same domain-control process. Restoring a directory record does not automatically restore a previous commercial relationship.

Corrections

Factual corrections can be submitted through company self-service. Verified changes still may require editorial review when the requested change affects a regulated claim, historical fact, methodology, complaint context, or another independently sourced fact.
